According to the Hindu Mythology, when the earth was overburdened by demons, Goddesses Uma (Mahakali), Rema (Mahalakshmi), and Vaani (MahaSaraswati) decided on creating Goddess Vaishnavi. So, in the Treta Yuga, Goddess Vaishnavi aka Mata Rani was created to destroy the wicked and tyrannical rule of the demons.
Another story that has travelled through time is that as a child too, Mata Rani was into the devotional service of Lord Vishnu. She carried this habit of hers till her adulthood and later asked Lord Vishnu to marry her after which, Lord Vishnu approached her in his ‘Ram’ avatar and told her that he was in search of his wife, Sita, who had been abducted by Ravan.
He also told her that he would definitely return to her and if she recognizes him then, then she could marry him. Years later, when Lord Vishnu in a disguise of an old man asked for her hand in marriage, she denied, thinking that he was undesirable by his look and age. She failed to recognize him but Lord Rama granted her the boon that in his 10th incarnation of Lord Kalki, he would marry her. He asked Goddess Vaishnavi to wait for him till his 10th incarnation on the Trikuta Mountain and gave her a troop of his monkey army for her protection.
